Access Statement for Harrow Wood Farm Caravan Park

Introduction

We are a small caravan park set in 80 acres of farm land on the edge of the New Forest. This small family park offers an ideal friendly base from which you can explore the ancient and unspoilt New Forest and surrounding areas. The park is situated just 5 miles from the coast and 2 miles from the open forest. There is an on site fishing lake for the use of our customers. We are a no dog site.

• Within walking distance are the local village shops which include a post office, news agency, convenience store, pet shop and ironmongers.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• As you enter the caravan site the tarmac road has 3 speed bumps and there is a 5mph speed limit as you pass the reception. The tarmac road turns to gravel which is then continued on to the caravan site.

• There are unmarked parking spaces just past the reception on the left and right hand side of the driveway.

Reception
•The entrance to the reception is via a small paved slope leading to a large wood surrounded glass door (93 cm wide) that opens outwards.

• The floor is tiled and there is an inlaid door mat.

• There is large wooden counter that is 1 metre tall.

• There are metal display stands around the reception with tourist         information.

• The reception is open from 9.00 - 5.00 Monday to Friday and on Saturdays at peak periods.

• All prices are listed on a board outside the office and there is a notice board in the window showing arrivals, a site map and emergency contact numbers. 

Touring Facilities

•We have 60 hard standing pitches for caravans/motor homes with awning area on grass.

• We have 14 tent pitches that are situated at the top of the caravan site in a separate field that is accessible by a dirt track.

•There are two washing up sinks (83cm high) located at the front of  the main toilet/ shower block with a step that leads from the gravel track to the concrete path that surrounds the toilet/shower block

• There is 1 car parking space included in the pitch fees adjacent to each pitch. Additional spaces are available at an extra charge.

• There are numerous water points, chemical toilet disposal points, dustbin areas and fire points on the caravan site all within 30 meters of each pitch.

• Pitches are allocated on booking and staff are happy to advise on their location.

Public WCs

• We have three toilet blocks; two small ones situated at the top and bottom of the site and the main toilet/shower block is situated in the middle of the caravan site.

• The two small blocks consist of separate male and female toilets plus a chemical toilet disposal point.

•There is a concrete path that surrounds the toilet blocks and there is a small step that leads into the toilets and all floors within the toilets are tiled.

• Facilities within each of the separate male and female toilets in the main block include 3 large showers, sinks, toilets, large mirror and hair and hand dryers. These also have tiled floors with non slip mats in the shower cubicles.  

• These are also surrounded by a concrete path with a small step entering the toilet block.

• On the Laundry side of the main block opposite the main shower block is a bathroom for the disabled .

•This is accessed by a wooden ramp, the bathroom has a non slip floor, a toilet, shower, a small hand basin and a larger sink, all with hand rails.

• There is a coded key pad on the door and the code can be obtained on request at reception

Laundry

• There is a small step that leads from the concrete path that runs along the front of the laundry bock.

• There is a top loading washing machine (93 cm height), a front loading tumble dryer and a large hand washing sink (84cm height)

• There is also an iron and height adjustable ironing board.

Leisure Facilities

• There is a large fishing lake that is free to use for anyone staying on site. Children must be accompanied by adults as there is deep water.

• This is accessed by a dirt track that can be uneven at times.

• Care should be taken when walking around the farm track.

• There is a local bus service that runs to the local towns of Christchurch, Ringwood or Lymington. There is also a train station 5 miles way

• There is a shop mobility scheme in Christchurch on a Monday which ties in with the Monday market.
